Do I need a NIE to take out home insurance in Spain?

Yes, the NIE is the tax identification number required to put the policy in your name. If you're still applying for one, we can prepare your quote and paperwork so the policy can be issued as soon as you have it.

Can I take out home insurance without living in Spain?

Yes. Many of our clients own a second home and live outside Spain most of the year. We handle the whole process and renewals remotely, by phone, video call or email.

I have a mortgage: does my bank require a specific home insurance policy?

Most banks in Spain require the policy to cover at least the building for its appraised value and to name the bank as beneficiary. We check your mortgage conditions so the policy matches exactly what your lender requires.

Does the policy cover short-term holiday rentals?

Allianz Hogar offers cover options adapted to holiday rentals. Tell us how you use the property and we'll point you to the option that matches your situation.

What happens if my home is empty for several months a year?
